This spring of 2024, MPS lobbyist Josh Downham met with the LNCS site council. He talked about how you can have an impact in our education funding and education legislation.  To stay up-to-date and learn about opportunities visit this MPS Government Relations page and either answer the 5 question survey or email Josh Downham and ask to join the MPS Parent Legislative Action Committee.

The LNCS PTA want to offer public recognition and support for the difficult position the Keewaydin campus (along with all of our MPS schools) has been put in with budget cuts handed down by MPS earlier this year. Many of you caregivers know that our incoming fourth grade students at Keewaydin are likely going to be served by just two teachers next year instead of three—likely resulting in class sizes around 40 kids per teacher.

In the wake of the budget issues we have been presented and in the face of these challenges, Principal Kristi Ward has provided excellent leadership and stayed committed to a community approach. Principal Ward has provided space for our us to have dialogue and input and work together to do our best to solve this difficult problem. We want to thank Principal Ward.

We want the LNCS community to know that, although we are also frustrated with the financial situation our school has been left with, we stand with the difficult decisions that had to be made. The LNCS PTA will continue to support our schools like we always have as we navigate the needs of our students next year.

We are stronger together and it is an important time to stay positive and activated to support our amazing community school and continue to build the capacity and reach of our PTA. Please consider becoming or staying involved with the LNCS PTA next year as we continue to provide support to our amazing school, educational professionals, teachers, and most importantly, our awesome kids!

Budget Call to Action

Budget Issues with Minneapolis Public Schools are far from over and we still need your help!!!

We are asking for help with three actions to support LNCS.

Send a (prewritten) email!

Please take a couple minutes to copy and paste a letter to district leadership to advocate for continuing funding for intervention support at LNCS! Spread the word and encourage others to do the same!  Our impact will be the greatest if we maximize the number of emails we send.

Thank you in advance for your support and take a few minutes to help us with this easy action!
